I mean, yeah, the gas price is very low at the moment.. but recession is with us... who needs low gas price if a lot of people has no money to buy gas because they lost their job?
I really wish the gas price will come up again soon... so much better for everyone that way...Who agrees that the oil price should sky rocket again soon?
Should, could, would. Don't worry they will go up again and soon. And yes, I do understand what you're saying and you are right. I think some of the answerers just misunderstood you or misunderstand Economics.Who agrees that the oil price should sky rocket again soon?

Higher oil prices are good for two parties
Oil companies, and oil speculators.
Exxon is not investing in more workers with their ';record profits';, they are simply putting it under the mattress, or in their executives stockings.
Higher oil costs mean less disposable money for everyone NOT related to the oil industry, which SLOWS the economy.
Gunman- What small businesses added jobs when fuel prices went up? I didnt see any. I work in an industry that depends on fuel as a major source of input, and we didnt add any workers at all, why? Because the demand for our product went DOWN because nobody had any descretionary money to spend because it was all going to fill their tanks. However, what DID happen is that our fuel bill nearly tripled, and put our company under incredible pain.
My dad is an over the road trucker......he didnt see an increase in loads, in fact, his loads actually shrunk (mostly because, again, people were buying less stuff cus they had no money). However, it was MORE expensive, as an independent contractor, for him to haul those loads, which meant he made LESS money.
As I said before, the only parties who got rich were speculators and Exxon. Every one else got hurt.
Edit- Gunman- It could be Shell, or any gas company. Exxon is just a convenient conglomerate with a large market share. The truth is EVERY gas company posted record profits all through last year.
Additionally, you still make absolutely no sense proclaiming that high gas prices keep jobs. They do EXACTLY the opposite. They directly harm companies that depend on gas input (retail, transportation and shipping, manufacturing), and passively harm any business which sells a good. Are you blind? Did you not read my two real life examples? My dad, who is an independent over the road trucker, was HARMED by high gas prices. The company I work for, which has less then 50 employees, was HARMED by high gas prices. I fail to see any one who is benefiting.
What company, real life, benefited from high gas prices that was NOT directly tied to the production, refinement, or sale of energy or was not tied to the speculation in oil trade? How many of these retailers posting record losses can thank the insane transportation costs they paid for almost half the year.....guess what their reaction was....TO LAY PEOPLE OFF, not to hire them. A whole lot of the layoffs we are seeing right now, are, in part, due to high gas prices reducing their revenue, and raising their expenses.
Oil shares jumped because for a while there, they were the only reasonably stable commodity that could be used to balance portfolios.
Now that everything has dropped (including gold), things evened out including oil. Things may start going back up (like gold and slowly, oil) but I'm not sure we'll see $4 gas again for a while (crossing my fingers).
How stupid are you? Gas prices are going up again, and it's not because of the oil prices it's taxes from the state and federal gov. The rich don't need more money, and rise in prices would not be better for any one. Businesses would have to rise their prices because of delivery prices rising.
Depends where you are. If you are in the UK it think it will since the pound is really unstable against other currencies. Therefore gas companies in the Uk will rise the price.
No, it should not go up.
Like what you said, we cannot afford to pay for a car and the gas.
By the way, why is it better when the price of gas is high?
It might only need a relatively small increase in oil or gas prices to push a number of businesses ever the edge. That wouldn't help anyone in the fuel industries.
i think that oil companies made plenty off their overly inflated prices.
They owe us this break.
Maybe you arent broke, but I am.
Sarcasm will not help out the economy at all.
The oil execs agree with you
I agree, I think it will
