What needs to be done to bring the price of oil/gas down?

We keep hearing, oil/gas are expected to be at blah blah highs and they are gonna keep going blah blah. So, what do you think needs to be done to reverse the current trend and make the prices decrease and get to normal ranges. I don't want to just ';save'; on gas, I want to pay less too like everyone else. I am willing to do my part, any suggestions? I know this will take a commitment from everyone, not just one group..What needs to be done to bring the price of oil/gas down?
I don't think the solution is quite that simple. Competition from other countries is lowering the supply. China and India, which have two of the worlds biggest populations are driving more than ever. And even if we could find a solution to lower the prices for now, oil won't last forever. What happens when 20, 30, maybe even less years from now there isn't a lot of oil left? We will be in the same boat.





I think that the solution is to get away from oil. People should demand that instead of their countries wasting money drilling in new places, where oil may not even be, we need to be spending that money to come up with alternative fuel. Whether it takes us donating money to the cause, or simply demanding it from the government, it needs to get done. Imagine if we could find something better and cheaper than oil. What if instead of paying anywhere from $50-$100 bucks to fill up your car, with alternative fuel it will only cost maybe $5-$10 bucks.





As for now, unless everyone and absolutely everyone stops buying oil for a day (which has been tried and failed many times) I don't see this really happening. And like I said, it will only solve it for the short-term, because oil wont last forever. Alternative fuel or something along that line is the answer.What needs to be done to bring the price of oil/gas down?
alternate energy sources. plenty choices available. also, it's beyond me why we can't get our collective act together and completely stop buying hummers and other land yachts to get us to the dunkin donuts shop.





ultimately lower demand will drive the price down but it has to be on a global scale. countries like india and china would need to go along and that's not likely.
we need to drill in our own country and not be dependent on others....pretty stupid for our intelligent country to have such a dependency on others....we need to support our own country and quit doing so much for others....you don't see them jumping to help us out....the little people in the middle class are being squished....
