There's big money in oil. Whether the price goes down or goes up, a lot of money is made. We need it, nothing else is better or as dependable. Sure, a lot of alternatives can replace it, but we can't afford to use them.
People complain about the price of oil, but don't complain about the tax on it or any other thing they need to buy.
Oil companies makes about a dime on each gallon of gasoline, but the federal government gets 18 cents, and the state gets more, as much as 40 cents a gallon.
';Oh, but we need to have taxes on oil or else how we fix and maintain the roads?'; Well, how come when our gas taxes go up, our highways is still crappy and the bridges still in need of repair?
Don't forget, we didn't have this high oil prices until the democrats became majority in both the congress and senate AND they are talking of raising the gas tax.
How often do you hear republicans raising taxes and compare that to how often you hear democrats raising taxes?
Democrats want more of your money to give someone else, usually other countries and the UN.How many Democrats are depressed about the price of oil dropping?
Republicans should be depressed. ';Drill here, drill now'; is working as a campaign slogan. A lot of people actually blame Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama for high gas prices. If the price of gas drops back below $3, a cornerstone Republican bumper sticker issue is gone.
I do find it ironic that Republicans mock Obama's lack of achievement and his incredibly short time in national politics, but blame him for high gas prices. I guess he has accomplished something after all.How many Democrats are depressed about the price of oil dropping?
I'm an independent, but I do see that the price drop is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, I enjoy paying less to fill my car. On the other hand, I dislike that Saudi Arabia and others in the oil business are keeping us addicted to oil with this yo-yo strategy. It works great. They just keep pushing it until the point that we actually begin to conserve or get serious about alternative fuels. Obviously, they don't want us to do this until they have a monopoly on the alternative fuels, so they keep us on the string, testing the limits then continually adjusting along the way.
Not at all. Unfortunately, given the current world supply situation, the price is unlikely to stay low unless the current economic crisis worsens.
Depressed? I'm depressed everytime I have to fill up my car. Driving by and seeing it slowly drop at least makes me feel a little better.
Zero. Unlike republicans, we don't enjoy funding terrorists. That's why we want to stop using oil.
Zero. Apparently you do not have to ';drill now'; to effect oil prices. Strengthening the USD is all that was needed.

funny the news media was still talking about it going up just 3 days ago. I'm sure we will hear a lot from the media about it going down. Oh wait, that would be positive.
I doubt many. No one likes to pay through the teeth at the pump -- come on!
Crap... I should have let go of my Suncor investment.
